Indian holiday Diwali celebrated in Moscow

The Diwali festival of lights took place, dedicated to the ancient Indian holiday in Moscow. The dates of the holiday fell on the period from October 25 to 29. The festival is held for the 14th time in the Russian capital. According to Sammy Kotwani, President of the Sita Indian National Cultural Center, organizer of the first festival of lights in Moscow, more than 2,000 people attended the celebration. Diwali is a family holiday in India, he said. This is a kind of Indian New Year. It lasts five days, and each has its own traditions.
In Moscow, during a celebration right on the stage, during a five-hour performance by Russian dancers, a sacred lamp was lit. Guests of the Diwali festival saw both classical Indian dance and the world-famous Bollywood dance. In the lobby you could buy perfumes, oils, incense, tea, spices, shawls, jewelry, try to look into the future with the help of Tarot cards and taste Indian sweets and traditional dishes for Diwali. And also - start learning Hindi. The fire show, obligatory for this holiday, became the finale of the evening.
